The Borobudur stupa is a large, symetrical monument, 200 sq. meters in dimension, sitting on a very low sculptured hill. The monument represents a Buddhist cosmological model from the universe organized within the axis of legendary Mt. Meru. Starting with the japanese gateway, pilgrims circumambulate the stupa, constantly in the clockwise course. s
